"...delicious..."
.
.
The
Press & Journal (13/06/03) writes, "The Prince of Wales gave a
fish-and-chip van the royal seal of approval as he paid a visit to
Scotland yesterday." They report that, "The Prince tasted
fresh scallops from the Fisherman's Pier chip van in Tobermory, Mull,
and declared them "delicious"," before adding that,
"Owners Jeanette Gallagher and Jane MacLean were delighted to serve
the royal visitor with some local produce."
The
Daily Express also ran the same story that day with the headline,
"Supper's royal seal of approval." . Prince
Charles' visit to Mull, and to the Fisherman's Pier fish and chip van in
particular, caused a lot of publicity. Many newspapers also reported the
van's inclusion in the 2004 "Les Routiers" Guide, the Scotsman
printing a picture of proud owners Jeanette and Jane on 27 March 2004.
The text accompanying the photo reads, "For snacks off the beaten
track, a highlight among the listings is the Fisherman's Pier fish and
chip van at Tobermory, on Mull."
